Arigato Gozaimasu.
Terima kasih.
Your Excellency Ishiba Shigeru , Prime Minister of Japan and members of the delegations.
- On behalf of the Malaysian delegation express our thanks and appreciation. It’s important to note that other than multilateral engagements, Malaysia is the first country that Prime Minister Ishiba has decided to visit for a bilateral meeting and the bilateral meeting is one of the most extensive I’ve experienced to show how he views Malaysia seriously, collaboration and a number of issues to elevate the bilateral relations to comprehensive strategic partnership and this covers issues of trade and investments, which happens to be the priority.
- Higher education including establishment of Tsukuba University Branch Campus and related collaboration with University Technical Malaysia Malacca with Waseda University, University Teknology Malaysia (UTM) with Japan International Institute Technology and with various engagement with TVET was missing of course, Keio University which is an important university, it was his university which I have good engagement. So I am now appealing to him to make sure that Keio University participate in some of our programs including in terms of civilizational dialogues because there is an interest to engage between Islam and Taoism.
- And the area of energy, we express our thanks because of the long standing relation with PETRONAS Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) and now going through carbon capture utilization storage with PETRONAS clean energy policy through the delivery of carbon neutral LNG cargo to Shikoku Electric and Hiroshima Gas.
- I also mentioned the formation of the ASEAN energy grid from Laos, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and the initiative by Sarawak for energy undersea cable Sarawak to Peninsular Malaysia and to Singapore, and this of course requires participation from Japan other than the countries involved.
- Then there is recent initiative by Sarawak that would involve PETROS and with the Corporation of PETRONAS to work on the alternative energy, hydrogen, a new feat and the Premier Sarawak, also here, he has given that assurance and with the support of Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba. This collaboration in the new technology and hydrogen will be a success and hopefully, Insya-Allah, and we will hope to facilitate this as soon as possible to be able to meet some deadline, say by May when we meet either in Tokyo or in Kuala Lumpur.
- I’ve also mentioned the rare earth where Non-Radioactive Rare Earth Element (NR-REE) processing plant to get the involvement by Japan.
- On the regional issues, we have agreed to support the Japan initiative to Co-Chair a Ministerial Meeting in July, a conference on cooperation among East Asian countries for Palestinian development. It is essentially the issue of reconstruction of Gaza and Palestine. And it is very meaningful to us in Malaysia and I’m sure many countries, including a Muslims throughout the world.
- We also will support the ASEAN Secretariat (ASEC) initiative and we will then confer with our colleagues in ASEAN, if agreeable to organize this meeting in Kuala Lumpur during the ASEAN Summit.
- And we also discussed the need to maintain peace and support code of conduct in the South China Sea, the Indo Pacific collaboration and the amicable resolution according to the Five Point Consensus in Myanmar.
- So Prime Minister Ishiba san, arigato gozaimasu.
